On Sunday the 24th of March 2024, we took part in the ‘Two Wheeled Support’ rideout to Alder Hey hospital. This annual event is an opportunity for riders of scooters and motorcycles to take Easter Eggs, toys and cash donations to the children who are unfortunate enough to be in hospital over the Easter period.
We left the car park at McDonald’s in Edge lane, Liverpool at 1.00pm and took our usual circular route to the hospital. We were expertly guided by the volunteer Bike Marshals, who ensured that we all got to the hospital safely. Once again, we owe them a huge debt of thanks.
When we arrived at the hospital, we were greeted by some of the patients who were able to spend a short time away from their wards. Amongst these was young Jake, 8 years old who had been seriously injured in an incident and required surgery. He is a very brave young boy and is a reminder to us all as to why we do this.
We filled 3 large trollies with a huge amount of Easter Eggs and toys and raised £559.14 in cash donations – which is a magnificent amount to raise in just a few hours.
On behalf of the children, we would like to thank all who took part in the rideout and everyone else who helped out behind the scenes. You put a smile on the children’s faces and that makes it all worthwhile – LSC 2014.

The collection bucket raised £421.97. This was an absolutely tremendous amount raised in just a couple of hours. Ernie did a raffle at the Alder Club later and added that to a collection from the Cambridge pub (where Liverpool Scooter Club meets) and other donations. This brought the grand total up to £559.14. We also filled 3 large trollies with Easter Eggs. Thank you to everyone who turned up and made it a wonderful day for the kids. I’m truly humbled by your generosity. We’ll do it all again at Christmas (date yet to be decided). As usual, we’ll take Selection Boxes but the hospital have asked if we could also donate colouring books and crayons to keep the kids occupied, small toys for being brave after treatment or pyjamas for children from babies up to the age of 16. If we start getting little things over the coming months, we should have a bumper bundle by Christmas.
Thank you all again.
Regards, Geoff. LSC
