Early Season Southport Rideout 23.01.22

Although the weather is cold at this time of the year, we still like to get out and about on our scooters whenever we can. Obviously, we don’t venture out on icy roads. The weather forecast for Sunday 23rd January was dry, so Dave Johnson from Cloud 9 in Birkenhead organised a ride out to Southport. There was an excellent turnout from our club as we met up with members at the fire station on Queens Drive, McDonald’s near Utting Avenue, Aldi in Thornton and also at the rideout destination on Neville Street (near the Prom). The ride up to Southport can best be described as ‘bracing’ but it was great to catch up with friends from around the various clubs and the scooter scene in general. It’s traditional of course, to have fish and chips from one of the superb local chip shops. Some of us cut the day short as we wanted to get back to watch Liverpool F.C play Crystal Palace, which was live on television. The main body of riders left shortly afterwards. The temperature on the way home had noticeably dropped and it was certainly cold !. Still, it’s getting out that matters and as long as you’re well wrapped up you’ll be fine. I hope to see you on the next one.
