The ‘Rhyl Weekender’ 2018

Venue for the weekend, Lyons Robin Hood Holiday park

Well, that’s the legendary Rhyl Scooter Weekender over for another year.

We can safely say that this year’s event lived up to all expectations with hundreds of Scooterists in attendance over both days, supported once again by many local people who came along to enjoy the fun. Even the North Wales weather was kind to us and after a bit of rain during the first part of Friday, it stayed dry and quite warm for the rest of the weekend which was a real blessing.

THIS YEAR’S RIDEOUT WAS TO THE YACHT IN PENSARN.

Ernie from LSC along with our very good friend Nigel organised the mass ride out on Saturday which took the riders along the Rhyl seafront to the Yacht Pub in Pensarn, which turned out to be a perfect venue at just about the right distance from the main event.

On the Saturday morning the Scooterists  gathered by the main entrance of the Robin Hood Holiday Park, in anticipation of the rideout. By the time it had come to leave the number of riders was 100 plus.  Setting off at 12:20 for the 25 minute ride to our destination along marine drive, East and West parades, Foryd road Kinmel bay, through to Towyn along the A548 then finally arriving at THE YACHT at 12:45 Where we were welcomed by licensees Graham, Ursula and their staff.

While the chicken & chips were being freshly cooked, drinks were ordered from the bar, everyone found a seat and eagerly waited to be served with their meal. They were not disappointed! Even though some had to wait a little longer than others due to the food being freshly cooked in batches of ten. A massive thank you goes out to Mike Francis of KTF Scooters and organiser of the whole weekender for generously paying for the lovely food. Also a big thank you to Graham and Ursula for their kind hospitality and for their generous donation towards our charities fund. Many thanks to all the staff at the Yacht, who worked tirelessly behind the bar, the kitchen and when waiting on our tables. Special thanks to Nigel, Hefin and the other local lads in helping to marshal the ride out. The feedback I have recieved about the rideout and the food served by the Yacht has been fantastic! Thank you to everyone who took part in the rideout, because without you it would not have been possible. Here’s to next year!

Ernie.

The rideout scooters leaving the delicious smell of two stroke oil hanging in the air and for ages afterwards!

As usual, the Parts Fair and Custom Show took place on Saturday afternoon and a big thanks must go to all the Traders who came along, together with all the Scooterists who took part in the Custom Show. There were some fantastic entries again this year, which made life very difficult for the Judges!

THE FRIDAY & SATURDAY NIGHT – MAIN ROOM / SOUL ROOM.

As always, the atmosphere in both the Main Room and the Soul Room over the entire weekend was fantastic, with with loads of happy people enjoying the music (and the ale!) and most importantly staying the course with the great line up of DJ’s.  The Soul Room was particularly busy, which was really good to see and be a part of!

A further thank you to all of you who bought raffle tickets in the afternoon and evening from me and to those people who just wanted to make a donation towards our nominated charities. An incredible total of £481 was raised for the charities being supported by Liverpool Scooter Club this year. Once again thank you for your support and I hope that you all had a great time.   See you next year – Ride Safe,  ERNIE, EL PRESIDENTE.     LIVERPOOL SCOOTER CLUB.

THE ‘CUSTOM SHOW’ AWARDS

Furthest Travelled by Scooter – Phil Highway from the Walsall Collective. Walsall. West Midlands. Phil nominated his eight year old son Michael to collect his award from the stage!

Rocky from Dublin – Best Vespa in show – Rhyl 2018

It really goes without saying, the Saturday Night was as brilliant as always. Both Rooms were even busier than the night before and it was great to see so many happy smiling people enjoying themselves and giving it loads on the dance floor. With no exaggeration, the place was buzzing, great people, great music, friendship and happiness, which is what the scooter scene is all about.

The only problem with the Rhyl Weekender is that it seems to pass so quickly!  See you all next year.

Dave Bell.
